The story of us…

In 2008, I met my first love, Rufus. He was the cutest little Shih Tzu boy. I have always loved animals, but he made me completely obsessed with dogs. He followed me everywhere, stayed at my feet constantly, and was so excited to see me when I got home - everything that people love in dogs. I understood the meaning of unconditional love. In 2012, I started looking for a friend for Rufus. After months of searching for the perfect best friend for him, we found Emma. She was the sweetest little Shih Tzu girl and the perfect match for Rufus. He was the dominant big brother, she was the docile little sister. He watched over us, protected us. Sadly, we lost Rufus in 2019. I was very concerned about Emma as she had known him as her protector for nearly all of her life, but it turned out she learned a lot from Rufus in all of their years together. Her dominance stepped in, her voice became stronger, and she turned into the protector to fill her brother’s shoes. Little-by-little, she started running the house. For anyone out there who knows a Shih Tzu, you know! For anyone not fortunate enough to know a Shih Tzu, they are the most bossy, sassy, loveable, fluffy babies in the world. If you have a Shih Tzu, they are in charge and you just accept it. I feel blessed every single day to have known Rufus for the short time I did and cherish every day I get to spend with Emma now.
